Procrastination

Procrastinate:
Oxford Dictionary
delay or postpone action; put off doing something.
I am always procrastinating.
Why do today what you can put off til tomorrow!!
Sometimes that seems to be my daily motto!
But I have come to realise the biggest thing with procrastinating is just making the effort to start. Once I start, I find I can get into it and keep going.
So I am trying to discipline myself more and more to start a task. Even if I just set aside five or ten minutes to begin, that can be enough to kick start that project, task, or job that needs to be done.
A Trigger
I am also finding it is key to have a trigger. That moment that makes you know you are starting, or underway.
For me it is a killer metal track.
A kicking double bass drum and guitar hook that triggers my brain to say it is work time. Sometimes I will set the timer for five or ten minutes so that I know that is all I have to do, but then once I’m under way, the music is pumping, I can often keep going and knock off a task or get it seriously happening.
So what are we all putting off at the moment? Fire up a tune and lets give it a quick five or ten minute start and see what happens.
Cheers
